A pretty exciting thing happened this week – Enabled by Design launched its spangly new site, conveniently coinciding with a great profile in the Guardian of Denise Stephens, who came up with the idea and has been kicking ass with it ever since, along with Dominic Campbell.
If you’ve not come across this little piece of genius, it’s a site where people who have trouble using every day things (from can openers to umbrellas) can voice their views and ultimately work with designers to make stuff that everyone can use more easily. Like this annoying packaging, for example (I’m still bearing the scratches from the last set of headphones I fought to open).
Anyway, I can’t claim any credit but I’m very proud to say that I was there at the start as part of the team with Denise that won the first Social Innovation Camp. Here’s a cheesy picture of us all after we won.
We’re all looking pretty pleased with ourselves don’t you think?
Speaking of Social Innovation Camp, the next one’s in Scotland. Who’s up for a road trip??
